Better to turn natural gas into methanol than to run it striaght. Right now with only a limited demand it costs little more than gas. With enough volume I suspect it would cost less than ethanol.

I think Pickens has access to a lot of natural gas.
The advantage is to his pocketbook.

Congrats - the first accurate thing I've seen you post.

We are not independent in natural gas either.

"I don't understand the advantage of a detour to natural gas. What is gained?"

The whole purpose of Picken's new commercial is to add to his billions.....nothing more, nothing less. He doesn't care about this country, just his wallet. Converting American cars and gas stations to natural gas is a joke. The cost would be huge because natural gas either must be liquefied and then transported, or piped. Pickens is the same guy who funded the swiftboaters. I don't trust the guy any further than I can throw him.
