If there is an inter generational type long term investment, I'd rather prefer real estate (preferably land as opposed to a house) and gold. I believe Real Estate (read land) will go up even when interest rates are trending higher. I have seen it happen again and again in other third world countries (we are getting there). Obviously "location location location" will matter as always. I will wait out a couple of years more before I make a move in this country. Already did that in other countries (emerging economy) where the land values seem to be doubling every year (though they are ripe for a correction).
