Most of those "volunteers" didn't volunteer to do the type of service that they've been stuck with.

BS, you understand NOTHING of military service..... Ever read the fine print in an enlistment contract? Come back when you have.......

You've fallen for the Obamedia's exaggerations yet again.

Those who volunteer for the US military do so as a result of their fine character and judgment--they don't need or want other Americans second guessing their motivations.

It's disingenuous to say the Bush Adm doesn't want to extend the usual retirement benefits to veterans. In fact, the only disagreement is WHEN the entire package of benefits will be available. Military experts provide Pres Bush with their assessment on those matters and he follows their advice. Here again, casual observers lack the necessary information to make well-informed decisions on the matter. Obama would follow the same expert advice as Pres Bush, AFTER the election. In the meantime Dems are simply stirring the pot, hoping gullible libs will drink their toxic koolaid.

PS: The military is healthier psychologically than the general US population. It's the liberal Obamedia that wants to paint the same duplicitous picture their Vietnam brethren foisted on an unsuspecting American public. If those in the media were as mentally fit as US soldiers, they would not distort the truth on this and many other issues. This is the reason FOX has the largest viewing audience--their news reports are fact not fiction.

>They weren't TOLD that the Republicans wouldn't support their getting the same GI Bill benefits that previous GI's had gotten.

They weren't TOLD that if they got wounded they might have to come back to Veterans Hospitals that were moldy and scummy and were unfit for human occupation.

They weren't TOLD that if they had psychological problems they would have to wait for months to see somebody to talk to about them.<
