Actually solar thermal is not there either, takes up too much space and is subject to nimby issues. PV can be used on any house roof when it becomes cost effect, they will even be able to make them look like normal roof shingles.

Yes, concentrated solar or solar thermal is really good to go; very efficient. PV solar is getting there... they need to reach grid parity.


As I understand it, solar thermal heats water into steam, which, in turn, operates the generators. What does PV do?
