Actually solar thermal is not there either, takes up too much space and is subject to nimby issues. PV can be used on any house roof when it becomes cost effect, they will even be able to make them look like normal roof shingles.

Is less panel needed with PV to generate the same amount of electricity?

Funny that they are building those plants then. What are they thinking? I'll let you set them straight.
