Here in texas I think there should be incentives to place a PV roof over each of the sprawling parkings lots around the cities. Your car is out of the sun, and oil is saved.

No more. Much more. To generate 250 MW of power (peak) would
require about 2 million sq feet of rooftop space...or
the equivalent of 11,000 football fields.


So then, its only advantage over thermal solar is that it generate electricity faster. Is that right?

Solar thermal plants have some other advantages over pure PV plants:

Heat can be stored and used at night.

Since the plants make steam and run turbines to generate electricity, they can also use NG to run the plants when the sun is down.
