Can someone translate those dollars from the 80s to today's dollars? Last I looked our U.S. dollar has been world's trash currency for a few years now.

The IndyMac shutdown is not a bailout, and it didn't cost much yet. It was only shut down and taken over by IndyMac Federal Bank about 3 PM Friday PDT.

It is estimated (by FDIC) that it will cost $4B to $8B.
