I opposed to pie-in-the-sky 'solutions' that either have no impact on the problem or actively make it worse. Given our lack of reserves, we may need to play the same game of conserving those reserves that other countries are playing.


The current problem is the price is high because the supply is barely keeping up with demand, you can address the supply side, the demand side or both - I propose we address both at once.

Obviously every barrel we find in the USA goes directly towards meeting demand - to say otherwise is hogwash or partisan talking points.

The only way drilling would work is if we had reserves that matched Saudi Arabia

This is the reason the oil companies want to drill in ANWR and the OCS - they believe they can find significant supplies that would make them less susceptible to OPEC pricing changes. Big reserves have lower lift costs than many small reserves.
