The USG won't confiscate anyone's gold until all the richest of the rich and the other elite have finished liquidating their US-based assets and storing their own gold safely out of the jurisdiction's sight and reach...... following which as a group they'll be taking one-way flights out of here to continue their luxurious lives elsewhere -- in fact, it's already happening So you can either: (a) join in and do what they're doing, or (b) you can decide that gold isn't convenient enough for you, stay here and follow the rules, and get stuck paying the bill for the next 20-30 years .
