Congress has a 9% approval rating. First time ever for a single digit rating.

( He's much worse than Carter - his approval should reflect that. )

Umm' no, though the war is unpopular, he didn't tell the generals to use some strange plan an NCO dreamed up. He didn't put incompetent redneck friends in charge of the economy and wonder why we had record inflation. The only reason Bush's approval is as low as it is is because he is in a second term and the media loves to take digs at him.

Just 28 percent of Americans approve of how the President is handling his job, matching Jimmy Carter's career low.

Only two presidents have gone lower: Richard Nixon, 24 percent in July and August 1974; and Harry Truman, 22 percent in February 1952.

It amazes me that he's not below 22%.

Ten, stop saying yes to these surveys.

Truman is now considered very positively by historians. And Nixon, despite his flaws, is given credit for a number of accomplishments in foreign affairs.

Guess that goes to show how meaningful approval stats are in the long run.
