Last night I watched a National Geographic treatment of Earth's Biography, this episode featuring the oceans. It showed how earth acquired water, how much of it there really is, and the effects of water on the earth. For instance, a number of times the Mediterranean Sea was periodically blocked by tectonic movements at Gibraltar, and completely dried up because it receives less water in rain than it evaporates.

A lot of the water on earth came from comets, according to this episode.

The energy in waves, tides, and heat was also covered. It was truly fascinating.

Nobody who really understands nature should be terrified of Global Warming. The earth will heal itself, just as it has done since time began.

That's a classic. This video makes one wonder if we really need this type of individual in the USA--they're beating Sheriff Joe Arpaio of AZ in effigy, because he actually enforces US law--what a novelty:
