I have not once said the supply is infinite, 400+ years is a pretty long time though. I have said the supply could be grown to meet our demand (and I mean American only) if we conserve, switch to alternatives etc and produce more by exploring and hopefully finding more oil. Eventually if we cannot find more oil then coal/shale can be used - for those resources we do have the equivalent of several Saudi Arabia's in known reserves. We will not replace our need for oil 100% ever - plastics, jet fuel etc will still be required no matter what we run home heating and cars on in the future.

You can reverse the oil production curve by looking in places you've never looked - if we don't find anything what changes in your argument?
