One of the strategies that makes the most sense to me, in this situation, is for individual investors to identify the nature of the long term cycle of valuations, ie, is it a bull market in stocks and bonds/bear market in commodities....or is it a bull market in commodities and a bear market in stocks/bonds. Since these long valuation cycles last for a decade or more, one can avoid being destroyed by the short term, relatively unpredictable market moves, if one just invests with the long term trend. On the other hand, if one invests counter to this trend, destruction is almost certain.
