- Blacks have been here for many generations. Sure, they have roots in slavery and later apartheid, but the apartheid is the same one that other minorties had to endure. How come other immigrant groups are doing better than blacks, even Latinos? Do you understand what it does to a man's psyche if you enslave him? Given your question up above, it would appear you don't. There was 150 years of slavery followed by 100 years of discrimination. You are smart enough to know what that does to people.....if you don't, I suggest you do some reading on the subject. - 2nd generation Latinos aren't getting the guidance and the support necessary to get ahead from the 1st generation. Most Latinos are more concerned with sending money back home to their extended families or bringing them here than breaking out of the cycle of poverty that has defined their culture for generations. To put it in crude terms, they are growing out, not up. I think that's part of it.......in some cases. But there is also the culture of the street, and it begins to supercede the family esp. where both parents work which is almost a necessity in the barrio. - Let me revise what I said regarding teachers and bureaucrats. The system itself is completely broken, so much so that even if you paid teachers 2X or 3X what they're making now, the profession still wouldn't be rewarding. The system has been starved ever since busing was brought into the mix. Whites don't want to pay for black schools esp. when they are sending their kids to private schools. We discussed the problems before, and they are largely cultural. That's right. It is cultural. Whites have a real problem mixing with other races. There's a lot government can fix, but even government's impact is limited. Then there are solutions that you just can't suggest because of the fears of "racism," such as making English fluency a requirement. Yup. Like I said......that's how empires fall. America is rotting from the inside out.
