>> I know many. Some Dems, some Reps.

You have actually encountered significant numbers of people who say, "I wouldn't vote for Obama because he is black"? Hell, all but the most racist among us, here in the South, wouldn't admit to such a position.

That's it exactly. Some will admit to their friends and family they won't vote for Obama because he is black but most won't. Those people will only admit to it on a poll, or of course, in a voting booth. Out West, we call it the Tom Bradley effect.

During the primaries, there have been any number of overt racists who candidly have said they will not vote for Obama because he is black. Those people were shown on national tv.

Finally, Obama is the only candidate who has been given security agent protection during a primary. That was because he was getting so many threatening and racist letters and emails. Usually, security agent protection is not granted until a candidate has been chosen by his/her party. His first detail of agents was provided starting in May of 2007......and the number of agents has grown significantly over the past 14-15 months. And trust me when I tell you, they are not threatening to kill him because of his funny ears.

Well, they say things like, "I can't vote for him because he's going to get assassinated because he's black," or during the Dem primaries they'd say, "I'm not going to vote for him because he can't win the general because he's black." Those are on the Dem side.

And on the Rep side, a lot of it is a bit more subtle. There are PLENTY of people out there are insinuating that he's not American or he's Muslim, which they're using as a proxy for saying that "I'm not voting for him 'cause he's black."
