I wish Powell had run for President in 2000. I think he could have won and he'd have done a good job overall.

I continue to believe that Powell, running with either candidate, would likely seal the fate of the election. He continues to be highly respected by just about everyone except the hard left.

He has an odd mix of conservative and liberal values. Probably more so than McinSain.

Frankly i wish he were running now. After both clinton and bush, a man of his character and strenght not to mention moderation is whats needed today. McCain is not Powell and neither is obama. McCain is too edgy and too prone to brash talk and Obama is inexperienced and will be eaten alive by world leaders, both friend and foe for a time at least.
If i remember correctly Powell's wife Alma put the kybosh on a 2000 run because of fear of assasination. She was probably concerned that Ted would call him an uncle tom too. (g)
