There were groups doing "pair trades" all the time... buy the biggies sell the little guys (banks, biotech, whatever), across industy groups, within them whatever!

It's interesting that shorting the common against a holding of warrants is not considered shorting. This is a true hedge, so it's understandable. However I heard a Hedge fund "manager" on BNN boasting that his hedge fund was 55% short and only 45% long. I wonder if he calls that hedging too... I wonder if that too enables him to do it legally ? ! But do shorts really hedge longs when they are unrelated ?. Is he really "hedging" ?

Semantics is all important.... but who police's the meaning of words ? lol
