Bush-Cheney can control oil prices to a degree but have done evrything he can to raise them since 2000. Of course Bush-Cheney are frontmen for big oil, war profiteers, pollutors and greedy banking interests. Other noxious industries too like nuclear, tobacco, gambling, drugs, HMO's that don't want to insure poor kids. etc.

The proof that Bush-Cheney can bring down oil prices if they want is in Woodward's book "Bush AT War" when Prince Bandar offers GW a dip in prices before the election. Bush declines.

There are many other ways a president can stop gas gouging. One way is to cooperate with congress in a full-scale investigation into massive price fixing, collusion, gouging and manipulation and actually put some of the crooks in jail.

The problem is those crooks are all close pals and supporters of Bush-Cheney so they will never touch them.
