Michael Eades comment on the study:
proteinpower.com

The summary of his comments:
Even though low carb diet won, the design of the study prevented even better results from low carb diet. The main problem was re-introduction of higher carb level end encouragement to seek vegetarian sources of protein (WTF?).

Important thing to notice is that the low fat and Mediterrean dieters were trully diaters, their calorie intake was limited. Low carb diet had no overall limit on calories, and still achieved the best results.
