Should the huge disparities come as any surprise?

Drive from Beverly Hills to East L.A. and you can see the disparity yourself.

Drive north along North Capitol Street from the U.S. Capitol in Washington and look at the slums to your left and right, and you can see the disparity yourself.

Go north from the rich areas between 32nd and 42nd streets in Manhattan to Harlem around the one-hundreds, and you can see the disparity yourself.

Reality doesn't require some study by a high-paid analyst living in his or her Ivory Tower.
