I don't get this.

You don't get a lot so I am not surprised. What do you need explained to you so that its clear to you?

My first and second houses both had interest rates just short of 10%. It is a cost of living.

No kidding.

Many people buy more house than they can afford (which is a good strategy when the market is heading the right way).

I didn't. I am paying $100 more in rent per month + property taxes.

It is ridiculous for anyone to assume that food and gas prices are just going to stay the same year after year. We've known for 30 years that eventually gasoline would go up (after all, that's the reason the Republicans have been trying to get more drilling underway for years). Just suck it up. Economic cycles happen.

Hell, you are one piece of work. Think about restraining yourself when you think of giving someone advice.
