We are only taking minimum amounts from our IRA's and not the whole amount at one time as we would be hit for more taxes. Will do that when my husband fully retires as our income will be less and have to pay less taxes, then we will enjoy the full benefit of our SS payments without any being taken away. We do get an increase in our SS payments every January for the amount he still puts into the program the year before. I did plan our finances for retiring, but don't think it is going to come to pass any time soon so I just think about paying less in taxes in the future and wait for it to come true. If MRS. Polosi gets her way all retired people who planned for retirement are surly going to be angry when all investments are taxed at higher rates. I think she is out of her cotton picking mind and should be voted out of office and certainly doesn't have any interest in helping retired souls, just wanting more money for the Democrats to fund more pork spending with income we have worked all our lives to secure and ingratiating illegal aliens as she plans. grrrrrr I rarely talk politics, but this latest bill she is wanting to get passed just goes beyond any moral reason in the worst way possible. I am so disgusted with our Democratic Congress, I would hope there is a complete turn over of all those there, no matter how long they have been in office. The lowest percentage now of their approval is really a just one. All the baby boomers are coming of age to collect SS and I doubt most of them have been making plans for their retirement. They act like Democrats and just spend, spend, spend and don't seem to worry about it. I sometimes wonder just where did we go wrong in educating most of them. Take that back, I think we just gave them too much and most think money trees grow in their parent's back yards. Our generation was taught at an early age how to manage money and plan ahead because of their parent's experience going through the big Depression back then. My husband is a life long Democrat and I switched after I took Civics in high school to a die hard Republican when I was old enough to vote. I had a great civics teacher. How we have stayed married for 58 years sometimes seems like a miracle.....LOL Of course we rarely discuss politics because he knows better and when we are out with friends who are Democrats he always tells them not to discuss that subject with me. I just laugh and tell them I agree to disagree with anything they have to say and so far they have accepted the warning and we can enjoy a nice evening.
