A hole miss shouldn't be a heart attack in geology. That is why they call it exploration. It hits and it misses.

I guess no one is promulgating the theory that they ran into an unusual hill formation that is only two holes wide and which busted up an otherwise monotonous coal bed that runs for dozens of miles in every direction.

It's 50-50. Either it's there or it isn't there.
