He asked me if he could wear it a little longer when summer began and I said that was fine....within reason! He's actually at the phase where he gets up, takes a shower, brushes his teeth, puts on deodorant, combs his hair after putting in some mousse and then proceeds to occasionally steal some cologne. About a month ago we had to have a talk about how much cologne should be used.....I think he splashed about $25.00 worth on that day LOL. He didn't quite get the "less is more" concept but he now has a clearer understanding. It really feels like just yesterday I was changing his diaper....time goes by so quickly. He's been staying with me a lot - I should be getting child support LOL!! Last night was his first big boy practice (tackle football) and it's run by the local high schools as a feeder program. I'm going to be involved but in what capacity I'm not sure yet. Anyhow (Oral will remember this well) Jr. got his first experience with shuttle runs. Those were generally reserved for basketball practice but the coach had the kids run from the goal line to the 20 and back. It doesn't sound too bad until you realize that you must go from the goal to the 20 and back, then the 40 and back, then other 40 and back, then the other 20 and back and then to the other goal line and back. No stops, no walking - nothing but pure hell. When he called for the shuttle run to end practice the kids started running and I turned to him and we laughed as I called him a mean bastard (no the kids didn't hear me). His response was "Control over children makes me feel very powerful and manly." Of course he was kidding (a very similar sick sense of humor to mine) but it caught me off guard to the extent that Gatorade was coming out of my nose LOL. It was great fun to watch all the kids doing drills. They get their pads and helmets next week....thats when the fun begins. August practices in pads when its around 95 degrees with 90% humidity....ahhh yes.....welcome to hell. The rule is QB's have to weigh less than 90.99 pounds and Jr. is 92 so he's eating chicken or turkey, veggies and drinking propel vitamin water. The weight limit is a good rule otherwise you'd just put the biggest kid under center and let him run people over. Punt, Pass & Kick is in about 3 weeks so he's been working on his kicking a lot. I worked it last year and will do it again this year. I think I'm going to try to convince the dads to do a "Father PPK" contest after we give out the awards to the kids.....I still want to play darn it :)
