Bush is the lamest of ducks. Soon to be president Obama is much more powerful.

The good news is that American troops can come home!

"Police chief Tariq Yousef al-Asaal said the local officials told Obama about their success in tamping down the threat of al-Qaeda, and they invited U.S. companies to invest in Anbar. But Obama, said Asaal, appeared more interested in discussing troops cuts and the eventual withdrawal of U.S. forces.

"He told them Iraqis should take care of themselves and that the U.S. Army and Marines have families as well, and they have to go back to their families," said Asaal. But there was no discussion in the meeting he attended about whether Iraqi security forces were ready to take over security responsibilities.

"If he had asked me about whether my forces were ready or not, I would have said you could leave, you and your forces," said Asaal. "I can control the province with my police forces, and I challenge al-Qaeda to come to take back one square meter.""
