In Washington State, apparently detergent with phosphate is illegal to sell, which is a new regulation.

If the phosphates get into ground water or stream water it could trigger an algal bloom, like too much duck poop. We get that sometimes downstream of the municipal sewage plants here.

I plan to get my detergent in Montana from now on.
