While the Middle East peace process is a high topic in Israel, it also is a leading point of discussion here in Amman. The King was remaining neutral in the presidential race, aides aid, but intrigued by Obama.

"The way it looks from our side is that this guy has a very good chance - at least a 50-50 chance - of getting to become the president of the United States," a senior Jordanian official said. "In the last eight years the Middle East has changed dramatically under Mr. Bush. There are many things to attend to."

The official added, "There are so many things at stake. This is why we don't want this window of opportunity to be missed."

Thank you for your post. It is a very interesting article because it reminds us that the parties always come first. They only say what will get them more votes, neither one is much different...except in some people's minds...

Oh if only a leader existed...
