I don't happen to believe that. Unfortunately I think we had a perfect storm of rising demand globally, weird financial market manipulation, and great PR for ripping off consumers. I think production has very little to do with the current price hikes- except in so far as how it is used for scary PR to keep the price high. It's not like I think this is nefariously choreographed- but I do think it is being opportunistically exploited, which is what semi-free markets do. Oil will (I suspect) go down rather quickly next year. I'd kind of like to be wrong though- since I want alternative energy development.
