But I determined the effect is real with a flat sheet of aluminum foil. My mt-pro Noncontact IR thermometer sees only an arc of 11 degrees. So if one points it at an angle at the aluminum foil it's thermal view is reflected. I could measure the temperature of my palm within 1 degree F of it's actual temp. 91F. With cold I could read 13F off of a 76F surface and the ice pack was 7F direct.

This shows the cold air sucked out of a freezer as a pizza is removed.
