Over 15,000 naval personnel from four countries are participating in a Joint Task Force Exercise dubbed "Operation Brimstone", that is underway in North Carolina and off the eastern U.S. coast from Virginia to Florida. The nine day exercise began Monday and includes special forces from France, Brazil and the United Kingdom. The large exercise comes barely a month after the Israeli air force conducted a massive exercise in the Mediterranean reportedly a rehearsal for a military strike on Iran's nuclear sites, and also shortly after the Geneva meeting where six world powers gave Iran yet another ultimatum of two weeks to suspend its uranium enrichment program. For the first time units of the US Navy Expeditionary Combat command who are trained to operate in shallow coastal waters similar to those off the Perisan Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz where Iranian Revolutionary Guards are stationed on islands near the strait. One cannot rule out the possibility that international forces may have to control the islands to ensure oil shipping freed passage out to world markets.07/22/08

This Red Flag is set to start flight operations today and continue through Aug. 1. The second half ramps up Aug. 11 and continues through Aug. 22. The second phase marks the Red Flag Nellis debut of South Korean F-15Ks and Indian Su-30s, according to a Nellis release. Red Flag is the Air Force’s largest air war exercise, putting airmen through the same combat scenarios they would face in a large-scale air campaign — from flying with allied nations to dodging anti-aircraft missiles. Air Force units participating include: * E-3 AWACSs from Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. * B-52Hs from Minot Air Force Base, N.D. * C-17s from McChord Air Force Base, Wash. * EC-130Hs from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. * KC-135s from Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. * Fighters from Nellis, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.; the Florida Air National Guard, Hill Air Force Base, Utah; Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash.; and RAF Lakenheath, England.

It is new cold war again and the russians know who the aggressors to dissolve their previous empire. I can say they are so pissed by the instigation with various stir-up attempts.
