Brumar, > He admits the surge worked, but he still wouldn't have done it.

Obama is now stuck having to please the "center."

He could have said what leftists have been saying all along, that we shouldn't have invaded Iraq in the first place, and that it's supposedly cost us $3 trillion already.

He admits the surge worked
How can it have worked when nothing was accomplished?

The only difference between leaving Iraq before the surge and after the surge is the people who died in the meantime.

It will still be the same result. what worked is that the U.S. made peace with the Sunni insurgents. Leaving them alone would have also made peace.
