Hannity is an asshole as are some of your friends on the left. I appreciate your patriotism vis a vis the troops but most folks in the US are more worried about the gas price. Thats what i meant about ambivalence. I think the troops are meeting with greater support than in vietnam. Why do you think Kerry and that John swiftboat guy who he debated on the dick cavett show in the early 70s are still at it? Troops then were spat upon. As one who had little respect then and am still ashamed about that, i applaud you. However dont minimize the extreme left moveon types who think: 1. america is always wrong 2. our forces are the forces of imperialism 3. pacifism is cool regardless of the world today and how they feel about the troops. Sure they can couch it by saying we are just trying to get them home but the truth is a lot more troublesome. Just watch who you hang with. As an aside, in 1967 I marched against the war with a buddy who was soon to become a draftee and soldier. We hated the war but we were marching with a lefty group that was pro-viet cong like jane fonda and the effete left. We walked away. There are folks right here on SI you need to disassociate from just like i renounce the extremists on the right.
