Of course a lot of the factors where outside the control of the new Democratic majority, but if you apply the standards that are sometimes applied to Bush, when talking about negative events (or events perceived to be negative) since he came in to office, then your conclusion would follow.

And what is your proof that the Democrats have caused the price of gas to increase to $4? As I recall, Republicans were in charge for 6 out of the last 7.5 years and Republicans have broken all historical records in their use of the filibuster to ensure that Congress has come to a grinding halt in the last 1.5 years.
