I think a VP choice can hurt a candidate but can in no way help them.

That is a widely held view. The key evidence against it is Kennedy carrying Texas after picking LBJ. No LBJ and Nixon would have won in 1960.

I think Romney might be the difference in Michigan and in Nevada for McCain.

He's far from perfect but I'd vote for him again without hesitation.

Sounds like he is no Mondale. <g>

A VP choice will help McCain. He's old and voters will need to see who's next in line.

Conversely, a VP choice can only hurt The Messiah. Sharing a bumper sticker with a mere mortal is humanizing.

Just my opinion but I think a VP choice can hurt a candidate but can in no way help them.

A VP can't work magic but he can be a good surrogate on the campaign trail, or an indifferent one; he can be a good fundraiser or not; he can have local appeal in a swing state or not. If the overall campaign is broken he can't fix it, but there are things he can do.
