If the global economy turns down (which seems likely) then pressure will be put on most of the South American govs to give more to the "people". What seems stable one stay may not be so the next. As the gold prices rises look for more flesh to be taken by governments w/a short history of capitalism.

I think Kinross has some balls to do this transaction, but they'll probably find a way to make it work. Russia I'm sure is far more difficult to navigate politically.
