"At least Churchill seemed to believe everything else about WW II was more important to mention than the Holocaust."

I actually can't argue with that. The Holocaust was bad. But it didn't shape the war at all. It wasn't known in the West until the very end of the war and, while it probably was suspected, those in Germany didn't really know what was going on. It is pretty easy to accept the official story in the absence of hard proof and the presence of the SS...

am indicating that maybe Holocaust got bigger with time.
At least Churchill seemed to believe everything else about WW II was more important to mention than the Holocaust.

Churchill also was thought to be anti Semitic. He might not have considered the Holocaust to be important because he didn't consider the Jews to be important.

I have read some of them and I'm trying to find time to finish the set.

There is no more authoritative take on WWII.

I cannot imagine having wanted to read them as a kid, though.
