Besides, you are aware that the whole visit to Berlin was the work of the German ambassador to the US? And he, in fact, suggested the Brandenburg Gate as a possible site for a speech?

I am aware that there was significant outrage at the thought of this neophyte senator speaking at the Brandenburg Gate, and that is the reason he was refused permission.

Not to mention the various love parades and even a live broadcast of a soccer game on large TV screens.

Were they all arrogant?

They weren't using the location for political gain. That was the reason for the outrage. I think most Americans don't understand the significance of it, but those who did were highly offended. I previously posted, and you commented on, the remarks of some Americans who felt that outrage.

I agree the Left didn't feel that way, because he is the new Messiah.

Plus, 70% of Germans thought it was a good idea for him to speak at the Brandenburg Gate AND the mayor of Berlin had approved him speaking there. However, out of deference to Ms. Merkel, he spoke at the Victory Column instead.
