Example: There has been a lot of talk about squirt guns with urine and other noxious substances in them. Although by them selves they just seem to be a silly public nuisance. One person could be managed easily but if organized they could also be used to provoke riots and mass disruption. Once that kind of violence breaks out, the fear is, we may not be able to control it. The cops want permission to confiscate obvious stuff like that.

"For example with guns, I say lock up criminals when they use the gun in commission of a crime, but don't lock up people for carrying guns.

Guns, knives and traditional weaponry aren't what this new ordinance is about. The most popular radio talk show in town was advertising a concealed carry class this morning and had guests on promoting their courses so that more and more people can get permits to pack hardware. No one even called in to argue while I was listening.
