Again, completely besides the point. Oil is a strategic asset only because we refuse to diversify our energy sources. Any smart country would do everything in their power to ensure their entire economy and national security wasn't dependent on one energy source. Unfortunately, we have a lot of stupid people in the US who think otherwise. If we developed other energy sources, then we could pivot smoothly when one source becomes problematic, just as the Brazilians do. But of course, that would take vision, strategy, and execution, all of which are lacking on this thread.
