If I were a Republican strategist, I would lay off the racist stuff and instead concentrate on the earlier tactic - paint Obama as an elitist and/or pollyannish.

It worked with Kerry because elitists never think they're elite. Kerry played right into their hands by insisting on continuing the windsurfing, never realizing what most Americans view as elitist. What was his quote: "who among us does not love NASCAR"? Classic.

They should figure out Barack's elitist habits (eg his manner of speeches is inspiration but somewhat over the top). Say, his habit of swiveling his head back and forth during a speech. What, no people exist in the middle?

Not that I think it will ultimately allow McBush to win, nor would I want him to win, but it would make for an interesting (and cleaner) race.
