Like when Obama explains how the troop surge didn't change a thing in Iraq --- it was the Sunni Awakening, Muqtada al Sadr's change of heart, sunspot activity, etc. Keep an ear out for the missing active voice - how often do you hear America "did" this, America "achieved" that? Only when America "makes mistakes"? Do good results just happen of themselves, without America's action, like the Sunni Awakening, the Berlin airlift, the fall of the Berlin Wall? Are only non-Americans the actors in those dramas? You can tell a lot by such clues.
