There is every reason to believe that when in mass production, electric vehicles will be competitive with IC vehicles over the life of the vehicle.

There is every reason to believe that, because until they become fairly competitive they won't be in serious mass production.

On the other hand the best marketing minds at GM, Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagon to name a few are investing $Billion

Investing billions on long term bets, or even investing billions on something that doesn't pan out in the end, is hardly unknown.

The taste of the public is fickle and can turn on a dime; you are taking a photograph of the current market and saying that's what people will always prefer

People won't always want exactly what they want now, but they will want a very diverse set of different types of vehicles, including quite a few large ones. SUVs took over from large station wagons, and to an extent from large sedans and possibly vans and minivans, that was a major shift, but both before and after you still had a lot of large vehicles on the market.

The market will change in the future as well, but it will very likely still have demand for vehicles of all different sizes.
