You may be right but I have no idea how to value that IP.

I still think that negotiating a hefty up front cash payment from NOK was a really clever tactic by QCOM. It's a big $$ amount and it seems unlikely to me that any of NOK's competition will have any appetite for such a deal, and will prefer to stick with their existing agreement.

If they want the same kind of discounted royalty that NOK seems to have gotten, then they'll have to front a cash payment for part of 15 years worth of projected royalties to get it.
