It's fine if you don't want to debate this issue, but it is only one of the issues where I take exception to Obama's positions. I know you will not convince me to change my view, and I'm equally sure I will not convince you to change yours.

I got my facts from the NRA, the oldest and most successful special interest group in American history.

The fact that you do not see those infringements as perfectly reasonable is the same problem that Obama and all people who don't care about rights assured (not granted) by the Second Amendment bring to the debate. It doesn't bother you, so it's reasonable.

The thing that I don't get about people with that point of view is WHY do they think that way, since clearly they have nothing to gain from infringing on the rights of others?

This is typical of many liberal thinkers, if not all. They have a particular view, it makes sense to them, and they want to impose it on everybody else. I've seen this over and over again on many many issues.

The NRA is strong because it is a GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION with a very wide following that has a very focused intent and purpose. As a demographic entity, it has a very high proportion of registered voters. If you parsed out American values, like Freedom of Religion, Freedom of the Press, conservation, economic strength, and others that form the fabric of our nation, you would find them in spades amongst NRA members.

Another characteristic of NRA members is that we don't go around interfering in the business of others, unlike the people who would like to beat the Second Amendment into their own image. Frankly, we don't care what others do, except when they try to interfere with our rights.

That's the principal difference between us, I think.
