I think it says a great deal about Obama's priorities and sense of self-importance.

If he truly "felt" the need to visit injured troops, he could have done so, by himself if necessary, without the trappings of the campaign.

It is pretty obvious that he decided that, if he couldn't have the publicity, he'd rather pass on it altogether. One gets the sense he feels the same about the military as Bill Clinton does -- he "loathes" it. I do know they feel that way about him.
