Right now, we are literally funding both sides on the war on terror.

And who's side are England, Germany, France, Japan, China, India, etc funding?

When you get China and India to meet our current environmental regulations, let me know and I'll listen to any suggestions to tighten our current regulations. Otherwise we're destroying our economy and with it, the American way of life.

Oil simply isn't going to be irrelevant for a very long time. If we made you president, no if we made you dictator of the US, you could not make oil irrelevant.

Also even making oil irrelevant, if it was possible, would not eliminate the problem with terrorism, or mean that it would be wise to pull out of Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. right away and have no further military presence in that area of the world.

Also fighting the terrorists does not imply a pyhirric victory or bankruptcy. The costs are a small part of our governments costs, if bankruptcy was really in the cards (and it pretty much isn't) it would be from other spending. As for pyhrric victory, thats one of the least likely possible results. The insurgents and guerrillas and local terrorists we face simply can not cause that level of damage to the US in battle (and yes I'm including the damage of the financial costs for our operations). Decisive victory, or muddled defeat are both much more likely that phyrric victory. If we persevere victory, but not totally complete, clear and decisive victory, may be the most likely result.
