It would have been utterly stupid.

The "utterly stupid" was going to Iraq in the first place. Getting out 2 years ago would have saved $Billions and thousands of wasted lives.

"The surge" may have calmed Baghdad by sheer force, but did little else for the rest of the country. The difference has been paying and arming the Sunnis, essentially paying them off. Is that a long term benefit... it is if you want a long civil war.

If you think Iraq is "settled", you are about as naive as they come. The US is not going to solve centuries of ethnic and religious animosity... and it's the ultimate hubris to think that is possible.

You are living in a Neo dreamworld, with the rest of your ilk.
