I don't know why anyone here thinks there's a difference between R's and D's with respect to these issues. There might be a few individual politicians who are willing to stand up and do the right thing because they know their constituency is able to withstand the pain. Most politicians, regardless of party affiliation, are not above pandering, lobbying, and graft.

Now, if we're talking about pro-life vs. pro-choice, then you might want to split party lines, but that's not relevant here.
