I don't know what you're talking about. Women have choice. Universities use affirmative action. Schools are desegregated. Gays and lesbians have the same rights as everybody else.

My apologies. I thought you knew the political history of the last four decades. A refresher, then.

Major planks in the right wing platform:

1. reverse Roe v Wade and, among some, put in place a constitutional amendment forbidding women the right to choose.
2. Reverse all efforts at affirmative action. I focused on universities and colleges since I know something about it. But one could make the claim more generally.
3. Oppose efforts to give gays and lesbians equal rights with heteros.

If you fail to acknowledge this, then you have simply missed the last four decades. If you wish to reinterpret them, fine, let's discuss it.

As for the misinterpretation of the second amendment, I simply threw that in. The thread has debated it. In my own view, it's crystal clear that it was meant to offer a compromise to states who wished to keep their militias intact and were fearful of a newly created central government.

No founder was worried about something called an individual right of gun ownership.

If Scalia had even the slightest consistency of interpretation, he would jump to that one given his originalism arguments. His position is yet one more clear illustration that originalism for him is yet one more way to cloak his own preferences in some sort of false historical sanctity.

I can legally refuse to hire a person because he is gay; I cannot refuse to hire a person because he/she is black.

This is a totally ridiculous dichotomy because, on average, the gay guy is going to be a better employee than the black person, if for no other reason than gay men tend to dress well and be very well groomed.
