Know how in managing, packaging sport events: F1 and football... TV rights has consumers beyond the borders of UK. Therefore money doesn't disappear.

The Internet and satellite TV leveled tastes. Worldwide there's a huge audience. Therefore it doesn't matter the country of origin of the sportsmen, the team or where the event takes place.

But we cannot call sports anymore. We should call media exposure. Evem if you are the best F1 driver in this planet you won't get a drive. To get a drive you need to be able to bring along sponsorship. Be of the 'right' nationality and be a bit fast learner to learn the technology package.

Football, Tennis, golf is a different story, it is still democratic as you can get to the top by sheer quality and performance.

Therefore the brand Manchester United will keep its value.

US sports is the one who'll suffer. It doesn't have world appeal. Baseball, American football, basketball, Indy car racing... It is very localized. In the next decades the money will be in sports that has appeal for the shirtless as they beocme middle class.
